Chairwoman says central bank sees reasons for key rate rise
SOCHI, Sep 4 (PRIME) -- The Russian central bank sees factors to raise the key rate at the next meeting of the board of directors on September 14, although there are many factors favoring its maintenance at 7.25%, Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina said at a press conference on Tuesday.
“Inflation is returning to our target a bit faster than we’ve used to forecast. First of all, due to the external factors, the currency rate dynamics. Inflation expectations grew a little, just a bit, we will also take this into account,” Nabiullina said.
The central bank sees high volatility on global financial markets and will assess the risks.
